A. Bank Accounts
1. Creating Bank Accounts
The first thing you need to in order to start using IAM Personal Finance is to create bank accounts. You may put in your actual bank account or their equivalents such as petty cash, pocket money (or the money you have in your wallet), even your credit cards. Bank accounts can be anything where you keep and monitor your money.
To do so, go to My Finances > Banking > Banks from the top menu. Click 'Create a new bank' on the main page and start entering bank information. Put in a short name for the bank account. There are other fields on the screen but they are not required. But to help you remember the details of your account, you may go ahead and put it in. If this is an actual bank account with checks, tick on the “has checks” checkbox. Click Save and your done.
Create as many banks as you like.
2. Editing Bank Accounts
Go to My Finances > Banking > Banks on the menu. On the main section, you will presented with a list of your bank accounts. Click on the name of the bank and edit appropriate fields and save.
B. Creating checks
Go My Finances > Banking > Checks on the menu. Click “Create new checkbook' on the main page. Type in a short name for the checkbook. Use a name that’s easy for you to remember. We suggest that you use your bank’s initials, starting number of the book and the ending number. E.g. BA 1234567801-850. If security is a concern, just type the last few digits e.g. BA 7801-7850. The point is for you to distinguish this checkbook. For the start and end range like in this example, enter 7801 and 7850 respectively. Click save and this will create 50 checks starting with 7801 and ending with 7850.
